Christmas this year was a BLAST as usual! We stayed here in Az and just did our own little thing with just the 4 of us. I thought I would get a little homesick, but I think i did quite well actually :) Its fun to make your own memories and traditions! Christmas Eve was probably the hardest part for me cuz I knew everyone was out having family parties and such, and we had NO plans whatsoever. I didnt know what we could really do and I didn't just want to sit home and do nothing, so we decided to go out to eat! Well...not thinking, we attempted a mexican restaurant and they were closed, so we tried olive garden, closed! Duh...its Christmas Eve. So Taco Bell it was :) but the kids didn't care. They were just happy to be eating out and we love Taco Bell anyway. After we ate, we got home and the kids opened their Christmas Eve presents which were of course, JAMMIES!! Then we did the traditional Nativity scene. Britlyn was SO excited to get to be Mary. She was a little dissappointed in the role Kolten was playing as Joseph :) but it turned out to be fun and cute! Luke read the story out of the Bible while Britlyn sat there and held Baby Jesus, while Kolten tried to steal it away from her! Ahhh the life of little brothers :) She had so much fun that we had to do it a second time. After the Nativity scene we got the cookies and milk out for Santa, read a few Christmas books and then headed to bed! It turned out to be a really fun night. The kids were happy, we were making memories, and best of all, we were ALL together this year :)
Here is one of the MANY attempts we tried at getting the kids together with their jammies on.
Britlyn's Santa jammies
Kolten's Reindeer jammies. I am obsessed with the feet :) So cute
The nativity scene. Kolten of course hated the hat on his head :)
So we gave up. Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus
She sat and looked at this doll forever! She is such a ham
Cookies and milk for santa and his elves
Christmas morning came, and Britlyn got up early, about 4 am, took a little peek and then came and got in bed with us till 8 a.m. We actually had to wake her up. :) They were SO excited to see all their stuff from Santa. Kolten wasn't too sure what was going on, but he was loving it! He laid right down on his Buzz couch and started kicking his legs. We took that as he liked it :) They opened up presents as fast as they could. Britlyn of course got double whammy since Kolten didn't really know what he was supposed to do with his presents, so she got to help. He caught on eventually though. They of course got SUPER spoiled.
Luke definately surprised me this year! I just need to explain myself here, Luke is not big on gift giving! I don't want to sound like an ungrateful person, cuz he does provide ALOT of things for our family and we get stuff alot, but I have NEVER gotten a gift, from him, that was wrapped and thought of all by himself. Sure I get presents for my birthday and Christmas, but I have always bought them and wrapped them myself. Well, not this year! He thought of a present, went shopping ALL ON HIS OWN and gave it to me Christmas morning. After 5 years of marriage, you can just imagine how giddy I was :) I actually felt like a kid on Christmas eve trying to go to bed. I was so excited to see what he came up with. I just couldn't fall asleep. Lame, i know. Anyway, I gave him all his gifts, the kids opened theres and then there was a huge box under a blanket off to the side that was left for me to open. On it it said To Mom, Love Luke.
Ok so how lame am I? my FIRST Present (and I mean FIRST, through dating and marriage) and I didn't even take ONE picture :( anyway, i went over to it and it was a SUPER nice OFFICE CHAIR! Ok, so your thinking woohoo, well I was ecstatic! We had been using one of our 3 hard wood kitchen chairs as an office chair. I don't know if I was more excited about the soft comfy office chair I had to use when editing pictures or doing work stuff, or that he actually thought of something all on his own :) Anyway, it is SO nice, and I love it! He said he felt bad for me when I complained that my back hurt all the time sitting at the computer on that hard chair when I would edit all my pictures or do school. SO he got me a nice office chair! Anyway, It absolutely made my day. Gosh I love him :)
Anyway, Here are a whole ton of pictures from Christmas morning. And believe me there is ALOT!! but who would expect anything less? :)
Kolten found the note and empty cup santa left. Britlyn was so excited he wrote her a note telling her Thank You
More Trucks...such a boy
He loves his Optimus Prime Transformer. So does dad :)
